As you get older, you may start to feel weaker and less steady on your feet.
This is nothing abnormal. Our muscle mass reduces as we age. It is a gradual process that starts in our 30s and accelerates from the age of 50.
While a natural and an expected part of ageing, it can lead to frailty, making you more susceptible to falls and fractures.
The good news is that loss of muscle mass can be reversed. If you put the effort in to rebuild muscle it can pay big dividends, especially by reducing your risk of falls.
Our Strength and balance class is a gentle, low-intensity, whole-body workout designed especially for seniors. It supports you to stay active, steady and confident in your everyday life.
Run on Tuesday and Friday afternoons at the Crows Nest Centre, Strength and balance will help you to:
- Improve your strength and flexibility
- Enhance balance and coordination
- Reduce your risk of falls
- Build confidence in daily activities.
Make sure you wear loose clothing, closed, supportive shoes and bring a hand towel and water bottle.
