Dementia Action Week

Crows Nest Centre brought our community together for a special morning as part of Dementia Action Week 2026.

More than 50 locals joined us for a morning focused on raising awareness, encouraging conversation and building greater understanding around dementia.

Dr Wilson

The event featured an informative presentation from Dr Nikki-Anne Wilson, lecturer at the School of Psychology, University of NSW, and Conjoint Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Neuroscience Research Australia.

Dr Wilson shared valuable insights into brain health and ageing. Attendees also had the opportunity to learn about support available through Care Finder and Carers Gateway.

A highlight was the unveiling of our Community Mosaic Project, created from reflections, experiences and messages shared by people living with dementia, carers, families and members of our wider community.

The mosaic is a meaningful reminder that people living with dementia, and those who support them, are valued members of our community.

The morning concluded with a relaxed morning tea, with an opportunity for attendees to connect and share stories.

Thank you to everyone who attended, contributed to the Community Mosaic Project and helped make Dementia Action Week 2026 a meaningful and memorable event at Crows Nest Centre.
